Wendy Terry campaign ends in Feb. 7th primary

The following excerpts are from a February 8th article in The Examiner (subscription required). The link to the entire article is here.

Voters in the primaries Tuesday night selected four candidates to run for two at-large seats on the Independence City council, leaving Wendy Terry off the ballot for the general election.

[Wendy] Terry narrowly missed the ballot, receiving 2,182 votes (10.84 percent), only 489 votes shy of grabbing the last available spot.

Terry said she has only begun building a growing coalition of freedom fighters in Independence.

“I hope that those who voted for me will vote for Lucy Young and Wayne Baker in April,“ Terry said. “Breaking the voting block is the first step in taking back our government from those who would use our own tax money to our detriment.”

Wendy, along with her husband Greg, worked hard to secure the signatures needed to get her name on the ballot, and to run an aggressive campaign on a shoestring budget. Those of us who have worked on other campaigns for libertarians know that securing nearly 11% of the vote for a first-time candidate is no small accomplishment!

I hope that all of you will join me in thanking Wendy for her efforts, and encourage her to run for office again in the future.

Mike Ferguson Online site is...Online!

On December 21st, Mike Ferguson officially launched his new website, Mike Ferguson Online. The first issue is a preview of the upcoming Missouri State legislative session with State Representative Brian Baker (R, 123rd District, Belton). Mike is planning a similar interview with a Missouri House Democrat for the next issue. Future articles will include commentary from Mike, interviews with Missouri Libertarians about their legislative goals, and continuing news about and interviews with the people who are effecting Missouri politics and governance, whatever political party they belong to.

If you‘d like to be notified whenever Mike publishes a new article, sign up for his Email Announcement List at the URL: http://www.mikefergusononline.com/mail.php

David's Weblog online

I had so much fun styling Wendy Terry‘s weblog that I wanted a blog of my own so I could experiment with some other designs. Besides, Wendy was probably getting tired of me playing around with hers. ;-)

This first design is frankly a knock-off: the HTML is almost identical to Wendy‘s blog. But I used a different banner image and background image, and changed some colors and fonts in the CSS file. I‘ll be trying some other designs later.

I‘ve been a very occasional commenter on other blogs, but have never had one of my own before. It‘s always been more fun for me to help others package their content than to generate content myself. But here I can do both.

Feel free to post your comments here, and even to change the subject! Let me know if you have any design ideas for this blog that you want me to try out here.
